Each year, Illinois welcomes new members to its Athletics Hall of Fame.

This year, of course, is no different and the Class of 2019 consists of 16 people overall and four of them are former football players.

The former Fighting Illini football players include:

  • J.C. Caroline: 1953-54
  • Bobby Mitchell: 1955-58
  • Simeon Rice: 1992-95
  • David Williams: 1983-85

The entire list of the class can be found here.

Simeon Rice may be the biggest name — and most recent — to many. Rice was a part of the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers back in 2003. That defense, which included Rice up front, is a defense many remember even to this day because of its dominance.

Biographies for each of Rice, Carolina, Mitchell and Williams — along with the other in the Hall of Fame class — can be found here.
