Illinois is threatening to blow out the Huskers in Week 0.
Illinois increased its lead on Nebraska with a 14-play, 75-yard drive to open the second half. Then after getting a quick stop, the Illini scored again to take a 30-9 lead with 4:01 remaining in the third quarter.
The first scoring drive lasted more than eight minutes as Illinois took a 23-9 lead. The score also marked the first touchdown of tight end Luke Ford’s Illinois career.

Ford was a highly-touted recruit who committed to Georgia out of high school. He transferred to Illinois after the 2018 season. He sat out in 2019, and played in eight games last year for the Illini. However, he made just two catches for 15 yards.
Illinois is playing with Art Sitkowski because starting quarterback Brandon Peters exited the game with a shoulder injury in the first quarter.
However, Sitkowski has been excellent. He is 10-for-11 for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns so far.
This 45-yard bomb from Sitkowski to Deuce Spann set up Illinois’ next score:
