Indiana adds 5th commitment for 2023 recruiting class with DB out of South Carolina

Indiana has been a bit slow in compiling the 2023 recruiting class, but the Hoosiers picked up their second commitment of the week as June begins winding down.

On Wednesday, defensive back Travon West out of Piedmont, South Carolina announced his commitment to Tom Allen and Indiana. West’s offer sheet included Virginia Tech, East Carolina, Wake Forest and West Virginia, among others.

West is listed at 6-feet and 170 lbs. According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, West is a 3-star recruit and the 94th overall cornerback nationally for the cycle. He is also the No. 14 player out of South Carolina.

West’s commitment comes just two days after Indiana landed a pledge from 3-star safety Amare Ferrell out of Florida. At this point, Indiana’s recruiting class is up to 5 verbal commitments for 2023 with that group ranked 72nd nationally.
