Jordan Bohannon is a senior guard for the Iowa Hawkeyes basketball team. He has been a warrior this season, and not because of his quality play on the court.
But because of the fact that he has had to deal with a lot of pain while playing, practicing, etc. Bohannon has tried to come back this season after undergoing a hip surgery in the offseason. He has successfully done so, but again, not comfortably.

In college basketball, a player can play in 10 games before seeking a legitimate medical redshirt. Bohannon has hit that 10-game mark. He missed one game due to hip soreness already and Iowa sits at 8-3 overall.
Now, as of Monday, Bohannon is indeed choosing to miss the rest of the season by undergoing another surgery:
Per Iowa:
University of Iowa senior guard Jordan Bohannon will undergo season-ending hip surgery (left) Thursday at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. Recovery from this procedure is typically 6-9 months.— Scott Dochterman (@ScottDochterman) December 16, 2019
As Scott Dochterman noted, recovery is typically six-to-nine months. If Bohannon is given the medical redshirt and can play in the 2020-21 season, he may be healthy by the start of that season assuming all goes well.
That’s the hope.
“My mindset coming in was to get this team moving in the right direction,” Bohannon said.
Iowa’s going in the right direction. Well done, Bohannon. And, get well soon.
The senior is averaging 8.8 points and 3.3 assists this season. A year ago, he averaged over 11 points and three assists per game while shooting 38 percent from three-point range.
