It has just been that sort of start for Iowa and the Hawkeye offense in the Vrbo Citrus Bowl.

The first half left a lot to be desired as the Hawkeyes managed just 3 points and 2 turnovers with Spencer Petras leading the offense. It was such a bad performance that it evoked a storm of reactions to OC Brian Ferentz on social media.

Things improved a bit after halftime with the offense driving into Kentucky’s red zone. Unfortunately, the offense missed out on points after a disastrous 4th-down play.

The call was for a QB sneak up the count on 4th-and-short, but it never got off the ground. Petras bobbled the snap while falling to the ground in the backfield. He eventually recovered the ball but never gained any ground as Iowa turned it over around the 10-yard line.
