Iowa picks off Sean Clifford on critical 4th quarter drive

Iowa just took back the momentum from Penn State.

After throw two touchdown passes on his first two throws of the game, quarterback Sean Clifford gave one back to Iowa with an interception.

With less than 10 minutes to go in the half, Iowa picked of Clifford on this play:

If there’s good news for Penn State, it’s that it was able to hold Iowa to just a field goal and keep it a two-score game.

Iowa is looking to snap a six-game losing streak in this series. The Hawkeyes haven’t won at State College since 2009.

Meanwhile, Penn State is trying to avoid its first 0-5 start in school history.

Clifford entered the game in the third quarter after Will Levis was largely unproductive — only 106 yards on 13 completions. He gave Penn State a chance to get back in it with two immediate TD throws.

Unfortunately for Penn State, its margin for error was already slim-to-none after falling behind 31-7.

Iowa has controlled most of this contest with the running game. Mekhi Sargent has 97 yards and two touchdowns late in the fourth quarter.
