Iowa State star running back Breece Hall is confident the Cyclones will be able to avoid “distractions” ahead of their marquee matchup vs. Iowa this weekend.
“I don’t pay attention to distractions,” Hall told reporters on Tuesday. “I honestly don’t care for them. I stay true to myself. We stay true to being Iowa State. We know what we need to do. We know how we need to prepare. There’s nothing to it but that.”
That comment was made shortly after Iowa running back Tyler Goodson said he felt like this week’s matchup was “Iowa State’s Super Bowl” and that College GameDay’s presence would be a distraction for the Cyclones.

Hall will be an important player for the Hawkeyes to stop on Saturday if they’re going to pull off a win in Ames. Last year, Hall rushed for 1,572 yards and 21 touchdowns in 12 games for the Cyclones.
This year’s Cy-Hawk game, the first since 2019, marks the first time these two teams have ever met while both programs are inside the AP Top 10.
Iowa has won the last five meetings in this series. Iowa State’s last victory over its in-state rival came in 2014. Cyclones coach Matt Campbell is 0-for-4 against the Hawkeyes.
As Goodson noted, ESPN’s College GameDay will be in Ames for this high-profile meeting. That game will kick off at 3:30 p.m. CT on ABC.
