Iowa vs. Nebraska first-half point total puts under bettors on edge

Iowa vs. Nebraska was always expected to be a major defensive battle between struggling offenses and stout defensive units. In fact, that game closed with a historic over/under with some sportsbooks closing all the way at a 24.5-point total for the Black Friday matchup.

When the first quarter concluded, the under looked more and more like a lock with a scoreless tie. Iowa struggled in the red zone, and Nebraska blocked a field goal to keep things scoreless.

However, the second quarter proved to be a different story. The two teams combined for 17 total points with Nebraska’s Chubba Purdy and Jaylen Lloyd connecting on another big-play touchdown to make it 10-7, Iowa, heading into halftime.

As a result, the two teams need just 8 combined points in the second half to hit the over, a task that felt insurmountable to some. And anyone hoping to see the under in play will be cautiously watching the second half in Memorial Stadium.
