Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda reportedly returning to Nebraska’s WR room for 2023

Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda provided some early-season highlights for Nebraska in the 2022 season. He would eventually enter the transfer portal and leave the team in October with Scott Frost fired after a disastrous start to the year.
Now, Garcia-Castaneda is reportedly on his way back to the program under new head coach Matt Rhule. According to Sam McKewon with the Omaha World-Herald, Garcia-Castaneda is rejoining Nebraska heading into the 2023 season.
Trying to determine Garcia-Castaneda’s role with the Huskers moving forward is a bit tough to project, but there should not be a shortage of opportunities for receivers looking to carve out a role in Lincoln. Star WR Trey Palmer is on his way to the NFL, along with the team’s leading tight end in Travis Vokolek.
In the season opener against Northwestern, Garcia-Castaneda exploded with a career-high 120 receiving yards and a touchdown on 4 catches. That performance included Nebraska’s first touchdown of the season on a beautiful connection with Casey Thompson.
Prior to coming to Nebraska, Garcia-Castaneda had 42 catches for 639 yards and 4 touchdowns while at New Mexico State. Now, he’ll try to find a role for the program in 2023 as Rhule enters his first season leading the program.
