Jeff Brohm and Purdue squeaked away with a 31-29 win in a B1G matchup with Maryland. However, it didn’t come without its fair share of controversy.

The Terrapins had a multitude of ill-advised penalties that changed the course of the game highlighted by an illegal man downfield during a two-point conversion on their last drive of the game. The Terps did not convert on the second try, but an earlier blocked PAT in the fourth quarter happened to define the game.

On that play, Cam Allen appeared to be offsides on his way to block the kick, and Maryland coach Mike Locksley agreed and complained that it “had a major impact on the game.”

Purdue coach Jeff Brohm bluntly said otherwise. He simply said during his Monday press conference that Allen was not offside.

Brohm is sticking by his player whether he believes what he said or not. Either way, the fact is that it wasn’t called and Purdue won the game.

The Boilermakers now sit in a good spot for the B1G West and are tied for the division lead with Illinois and Nebraska. Purdue now sits pat 4-2 with an upcoming matchup with a Nebraska team that is beginning to build some momentum.
