Jeremiah Smith is indeed an Ohio State Buckeye! After a lengthy delay, the program finally confirmed Smith’s National Letter of Intent Wednesday evening.
Smith’s Early Signing Day started off with plenty of intrigue. A longtime commit to Ryan Day’s program, there were reports of Miami and Florida State working hard to pull off a flip.
Eventually, Smith announced around 12:30 pm ET that he was sticking with his commitment and signing with the Buckeyes. However, as time passed without Ohio State confirming an NLI, rumors began to swirl that his decision was in limbo with Miami reportedly still in the mix.
At 10:02 pm ET, the Buckeyes finally confirmed Smith’s signing on social media. Here’s what the Buckeyes had to say about Smith:
Jeremiah Smith – Fresh off a Senior campaign that saw him rewrite record books in South Florida and culminated with a State Championship, JJ and his elite skillset land in Columbus looking to add to the legacy of elite Buckeye Wide receivers of the past. Welcome to THE Brotherhood Jeremiah.

There’s no denying the magnitude of Smith and the impact his decision has on Day and Ohio State. The head coach even buckled his knees and had an audible sigh of relief when he was informed of Smith’s final decision during a live press conference.
Keeping Smith’s pledge and getting the 5-star receiver signed adds to a strong Early Signing Day haul for the Buckeyes. Ohio State officially signed 5 players with a 5-star composite rating, the most for any team in the 2024 recruiting cycle.
