Jonathan Taylor: Wisconsin’s defense ‘bailed us out’ of some tough situations

Wisconsin’s offense did not look great against Northwestern, but the defense more than picked up the slack.

Jonathan Taylor started strong Saturday and still put up over 100 yards on the ground and a touchdown, but the offense as a whole bogged down. Taylor’s early touchdown and a fourth-quarter field goal were the only points put up by Wisconsin’s offense.

Fortunately, it was the defense that played lights out against the Wildcats. A fumble recovery touchdown and a pick-six gave Wisconsin 14 points from its defensive unit, and Taylor is more than grateful for the performance.

On Monday, Taylor acknowledged that the offense did not do a great job and left the defense in some tough situations against Northwestern. He praised the defense for bailing the team out every time and labeled them the best defense in the nation.
