Justin Fields discusses blocking out the hype: ‘Don’t let your head blow up’

The pre-season hype continues to build around Ohio State newcomer Justin Fields, but he is determined to remain focused on putting in the work this fall.
Much has been made about Fields’ transfer to the Buckeyes after spending his freshman season in the SEC with the Georgia Bulldogs. Fields served as a backup during his lone season in Athens, but all expectations are that Fields will be Ohio State’s starting quarterback entering Week 1.
A former 5-star recruit, Fields recently claimed he ran a sub-4.5 40-yard dash in May. That speed, coupled with a strong arm, has expectations rising higher and higher in Columbus.
During the BTN Bus Tour visit on Tuesday, Fields was asked about dealing with the hype surrounding his arrival. His remedy? Remembering to stay even-keeled and lots of hard work:
“Just gotta keep your head down,” explained Fields. “Don’t listen to the outside voices and just work. Don’t let your head blow up or get to low. Just kind of stay even-keeled and just put your head down and work.”
You can check out all of Fields comments, along with input from running back J.K. Dobbins, in the BTN video below:
