Lathan Ransom is turning into a game-changer for Ohio State’s special teams unit. Already an impact player on defense, Ransom has blocked punts in back-to-back weeks.

In Week 12, Ransom’s block came on Maryland’s first punt coming out of halftime. Ransom soared in and was across the foot of the punter for the clean rejections.

Xavier Johnson recovered the block to set the Buckeyes’ offense for a start deep inside Terrapin territory.

On the ensuing drive, Ohio State went to Dallan Hayden on back-to-back carries. He covered the 14 yards on those carries for a go-ahead touchdown in the third quarter.

The ground game was a point of emphasis for Ryan Day coming out of halftime, and Ohio State’s defense and special teams are providing a spark. Now, we’ll see if the Buckeyes can play from in front in the second half.
