Maryland football hasn’t been in the AP top 25 in a while, but on Saturday against Illinois, the Terrapins threw up 63 points on the Fighting Illini in a 30-point victory — certainly resembling a top 25 team.
The Terrapins amassed over 700 yards of total offense and the 63 points scored marked a program record for most points scored against a B1G opponent. Maryland was hyped up after the game, of course, thanks to the blowout.
The Terrapins are now 5-3 on the season and 3-2 in the B1G. Following the win, ex-Illinois LB Tre Watson did a bit of showboating. Watson, a senior, was a member of the Fighting Illini earlier in his collegiate career.
He had an extra reason to celebrate. After the win, he was seen with two other Terrapin defenders — Antoine Brooks Jr. and Isaiah Davis — in “Kingz of LittyvILLe” shirts.
Kingz of LittyvILLe refers to Illinois:

That’s certainly a bit of a jab at your former team. Illini fans weren’t happy about it on Twitter:

I thought you were better than that Tre. Your actions and words today speak differently. Sad.

This is so pathetic.

Sad, pathetic, or however you want to put it, Illinois fans aren’t happy. Unnecessary shade was thrown.
