Illinois will be missing defensive lineman Bobby Roundtree this season, but the Illini will be honoring their teammate.
Roundtree remains in rehab after sustaining a serious spinal cord injury during a swimming accident earlier in the year. There is no official update on his condition, but Roundtree will indeed miss all of 2019.

As a way to honor their missing teammate, the Illini will wear a special “97” decal on their helmets which was Roundtree’s number. Illinois Football shared an image of the decal on Wednesday:

Roundtree played in all 24 games over his first two seasons with the Illini. The heart and soul of the defensive front, he posted 117 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, and 12.5 sacks. Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to Roundtree and his family throughout his rehab process.
