Lou Holtz isn’t letting go of his grudge against Ohio State any time soon. He already admitted he wasn’t sold on the Buckeyes as a great team in a response to Ryan Day, despite Ohio State rallying to beat Notre Dame on the road.

Even for Holtz’s belief that Ohio State is not a great team, his latest ranking of the Buckeyes is certainly a sign of disrespect from the former head coach. In Holtz’s latest ballot for the Super 16 Poll, he dropped the Buckeyes 5 spots.

Being dropped on a poll is not always a surprise, but it’s particularly notable this time with Ohio State maintaining a 4-0 start to the season. Day and the Buckeyes were also inactive over the weekend on a bye week.

Nevertheless, Holtz dropped Ohio State 5 spots, from No. 4 all the way down to No. 9. Ohio State’s most common ranking on the poll was between No. 3-5  and the Buckeyes remained at No. 4 on the poll after Week 5.

In the end, all Ohio State can do is go out there and earn the respect of Holtz and the rest of the country. If Day and the Buckeyes roll through the B1G slate and into the College Football Playoff, they will get their chance to win a title and claim their place as the best in the land.
