Michigan State linebacker Joe Bachie set the tone against Northwestern, and it truly graded out as an incredible performance.
The stat sheet alone tells an impressive story for Bachie. He had a career-high 14 tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack, two passes defended, and an interception in Michigan State’s dominant win.
But digging deeper than the stat sheet, head coach Mark Dantonio evaluated the impressive performance on his Sunday evening teleconference. According to Dantonio, Bachie graded out with 53 production points in the win. How impressive is that? A good performance is usually around 20 production points.
Matt Wenzel with MLive shared Dantonio’s analysis:
Dantonio says Joe Bachie had "an unbelievable game." Says usually if you have 20 or so production points you had a very good game. Bachie had 53.

According to Chris Solari with The Detroit Free Press, it was the highest production total Dantonio has seen:
"That's the highest production points I've ever seen." Dantonio started using that system when he was a Nick Saban assistant in the mid-to-late 1990s. https://t.co/N76dkx5ycZ

There’s no denying Bachie was a monster in the win. He helped set the tone early with his strong play that included an impressive tackle on the goal line. Hopefully, he continues his strong work this week against Indiana.
