The investigation into the Wolverine program revealed allegations of sexual or gender-based discrimination and alleges Pearson told students to lie on COVID-19 tracing forms ahead of the 2021 NCAA Tournament. The report also alleges former director of hockey operations Rick Bancroft bullied female hockey staff. Pearson is charged with not doing enough to reprimand or stop Bancroft’s behavior.
Pearson previously spent 1988-2011 in multiple roles for Michigan hockey. After serving as the head coach at Michigan Tech from 2011-17, Pearson returned to the Wolverines as head coach in 2017.
Michigan went 99–65–16 during Pearson’s tenure.
