With Thorne’s struggles, Tucker was asked about his level of concern. Tucker gave his take on Thorne’s performance, per the Detroit Free Press’ Chris Solari:
“What’s my level of concern? I’m not concerned,” Tucker said.
Tucker could have raised concern, but he chose to support his quarterback. Thorne was not pleased with his performance and wanted to limit turnovers. This will be something that Michigan State will have to work on in the coming weeks.
In 2 games, Thorne passed for 445 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions. He had a better outing in the season opener against Western Michigan with 233 passing yards, 4 touchdowns, and 1 interception.
In 2021, Thorne had an impressive season for the Spartans. He completed last season with 3,232 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Thorne will look to finish the season with better numbers than he had in 2021.
Thorne will get an opportunity to make up for his slow start in Week 3 against Washington. The game between Michigan State and Washington will take place at 7:30 p.m. ET.
