Michigan State earns commitment from 3-star cornerback

Michigan State’s 2021 recruiting class got a boost on Tuesday afternoon.

Steffan Johnson, a 3-star cornerback from Venice, Fla., announced his commitment to the Spartans.

He broke the news on Twitter:

This is the third commitment for Michigan State this week. Johnson joins JUCO offensive lineman Brandon Baldwin and 4-star defensive tackle Rayshaun Benny.

Michigan State now has the No. 47 class in the country and the No. 10 class in the Big Ten, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

Johnson is the No. 135 cornerback in the country, per 247Sports Composite rankings. Listed at 6-foot, 160 pounds, Johnson is currently in his senior season at Venice High School.

Michigan State is 1-2 this season. The Spartans will host No. 10 Indiana on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET.
