Michigan State lands pledge from former Pac-12 QB through transfer portal

Michigan State and head coach Jonathan Smith landed a pledge from former Oregon State quarterback Aidan Chiles Thursday afternoon, a move that’s been expected for a few days now.
Chiles did not start for Oregon State last season. That role was filled by former Clemson QB DJ Uiagalelei. However, with Uiagalelei reportedly checking out Florida State, Chiles is joining his former coach in East Lansing.
This news was first reported by ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
NEWS: Oregon State quarterback Aidan Chiles is transferring to Michigan State, he tells ESPN. Chiles earned snaps as a true freshman playing for new MSU coach Jonathan Smith at OSU last year. He gives Smith a linchpin building block at quarterback as he starts his tenure. pic.twitter.com/IjTOhWyePN

Chiles played well as a true freshman for the Beavers, finishing his brief stints 24-of-35 with 309 passing yards, zero interceptions and 4 touchdowns. He’s likely to be a candidate to start immediately at MSU given he knows Smith’s offense and had good showings in his brief appearances in Corvallis.
Michigan State will be getting a strong former prospect, too. Chiles is a former 4-star, rated as the No. 7 QB in the Class of 2023 by 247Sports.
