Nebraska Head Coach Mike Riley told media on Thursday that RB Tre Bryant has been ruled out for Saturday’s matchup with Northern Illinois Universtiy.

“Tre has not practice,” Riley said on Thursday. “I was hoping to wait as long as I could, but it’s probably too late so he probably won’t play. Wilbon will start.”

Nebraska’s leading rusher, Bryant has rushed for 299 yards and two touchdowns this season including two 100+ yard performances. Backup RB Mikale Wilbon has just 23 rushing yards on five carries this season and has only rushed for 147 yards in three seasons with Nebraska.

NIU run defense has stifled opposing running backs through the first two weeks in 2017 with a yard per carry average of just 2.19 yards. Boston College starting RB Jon Hilliman carried the ball 25 times for just 58 yards against NIU in Week One.
