Paul Mulcahy is a true college basketball veteran with 121 appearances (81 starts) during his time at Rutgers. Now, he’s in the transfer portal and reportedly generating significant interest from around the country.

According to basketball insider Adam Zagoria, Mulcahy’s list of early teams to reach out include Kentucky, Kansas State, West Virginia and Juwan Howard’s Michigan program. Gonzaga, Kansas, Xavier, Pitt and Washington are other high-major teams with interest.

During the 2022-23 season, the 6-foot-6 Mulcahy averaged 8.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists while shooting 37% from 3-point range. A versatile guard, Mulcahy led the Scarlet Knights in assists while also averaging 1.5 steals for Steve Pikiell’s squad.

For his career, Mulcahy has averaged 6.8 points, 3.8 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 0.9 steals while shooting 36% from deep. He would bring a veteran presence and be a solid backcourt addition to whichever program he lands at.

As for his interest from Michigan, the Wolverines have lost Hunter Dickinson to the transfer portal, Jett Howard to the NBA Draft and could not finalize the addition of Caleb Love in the transfer portal. Though not quite as prominent a name as those other players, Mulcahy would be a nice depth piece for Michigan in the 2023-24 season.
