Iowa is already looking ahead at future recruiting classes. Way ahead.

This weekend, the Hawkeyes received a verbal pledge from 2024 offensive lineman Cody Fox. He is the younger brother of Taylor Fox, who is currently a walk-on offensive lineman for the program.

“Committed! Proud and grateful to be a Hawkeye!” Fox wrote on Twitter to announce his commitment.

Per 247Sports, Fox made the leap to the varsity squad as a high school freshman. Even with limited experience on the field, Iowa clearly has interest in what it has seen so far. And in the never-ending world of recruiting, it’s never too early to get a jump on future classes.

Fox’s commitment isn’t the first sign that Iowa is looking to build for the future as quickly as possible. Earlier this summer, Iowa extended an offer to Iose Epenesa, the younger brother of former defensive end A.J Epenesa. He’s currently listed as an athlete in the 2025 class.

Iowa has five players committed in the 2022 recruiting class, ranking No. 10 in the B1G and No. 44 nationally. Fox became the first player of the 2024 to give a verbal pledge. There are currently no commitments for the Hawkeyes in the 2023 cycle.
