Cornel Jones was a starting linebacker at Purdue in 2018, finishing the season with 69 tackles, 12.5 for loss and 3.5 sacks. He made his presence felt.
In 2019, he had a less productive year. Not because of performance, but because of injuries. He played in six games, registering 25 tackles.

For 2020, Jones intends on playing elsewhere. He said as much Friday morning:

Jones has one year of eligibility remaining. He was likely anticipated to be a starter in 2020. It should be noted that the Boilermakers let go of former defensive coordinator Nick Holt once the 2019 season came to a close.
Purdue hasn’t had an elite defense in quite some time and Jones certainly would have helped raise the Boilermakers’ level of play on that side of the ball.
