The Chicago Bears (1-1) are finally giving former Ohio State Buckeye and rookie quarterback Justin Fields a chance to shine with the first-string quarterback Andy Dalton out with a bone bruise in his left knee.

According to ESPN’s reporter and NFL insider Adam Schefter, Dalton may miss one or two more games for Chicago depending on the severity of the injury and how long he recovers.

The Bears have not put Dalton on IR as the injury is considered mild. Chicago head coach Matt Nagy reiterated that Dalton would remain as the starting quarterback when he comes back healthy.

Coach Nagy believes that Dalton gives Chicago the better chance to succeed despite Fields being a more dynamic athlete and a more powerful passer.

Earlier this week, Bears fans were frustrated with Nagy after he commented on how Fields was benefitting from more 1st team practice reps.

Fields will get his chance to become the Bears’ starting quarterback, even when Dalton comes back, against Cleveland on Sunday.
