Report: Detroit Lions releasing former Michigan wideout

The Detroit Lions made some roster moves on Monday in order to meet the NFL’s requirements. Unfortunately, a former Michigan WR reportedly got cut by the team per NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
Sources told Schultz that Devin Funchess was 1 of the players cut by the Lions on Monday. Funchess played for the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers last season, but didn’t record any stats. His only action this preseason came on Aug. 12, when the Lions played the Atlanta Falcons. He had 4 receptions for 19 yards receiving and 1 touchdown.
Devin Funchess is being released by the #Lions, per source. The talented former Michigan standout flashed in Week 1 of the preseason with four catches and a TD.

Funchess played at Michigan from 2012-2014. He was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the 2015 NFL Draft. Funchess posted his career-high in yards receiving (840) back in 2017 while on the Panthers.
The Michigan product made headlines this preseason when he made a ridiculous catch in the back of the end zone against the Falcons. Hopefully, other teams will have him on their radar and he can make another team’s roster.
