The hits just keep coming for Nebraska.
Sophomore outside linebacker Niko Cooper has entered the transfer portal, according to a report. That’s per Husker247, who cites sources saying the former JUCO linebacker is already in the portal.
This news comes on the same day that the Huskers were trying to cancel their upcoming game with Oklahoma this fall. Nebraska AD Bill Moos released a statement later on Friday afternoon saying the program would participate in the game after all.
Cooper played in seven games for the Huskers last season, but mostly on special teams. He recorded three tackles, including two in Nebraska’s win over Penn State.
Cooper was the No. 69 JUCO prospect in the country for the class of 2020, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He also had offers from Maryland and Liberty, amongst others.
He’s a Memphis, Tennessee, native who came to Nebraska out of Hutchison Community College. Garrett Nelson was expected to be ahead of Cooper on the depth chart this fall.
