Rutgers has been dominant so far in its season-opener vs. Temple.
The Scarlet Knights picked up an early field goal, forced the Owls into a safety and now have a pair of touchdowns.
Rutgers’ Tre Avery picked off Temple QB D’Wan Mathis in the first quarter. He returned down to the 2-yard line, and the Scarlet Knights were able to convert. Johnny Langan ran it in to give Rutgers a 12-0 lead after the first quarter.
And here’s Langan’s first TD run:

On Rutgers’ next possession, it was again Langan who put it over the goal line to give the Scarlet Knights a commanding 19-0 lead.
This game was supposed to be played on Thursday night, but was postponed to this afternoon when Hurricane Ida caused serious flooding in New Jersey. The road to Rutgers’ stadium was completely flooded on Thursday, but cleared up over the weekend.
Rutgers is hoping to build off a 2020 campaign that produced multiple conference wins for the first time since 2017.
