Nebraska made some big moves on Monday, announcing head coach Scott Frost would be back for 2022. The Huskers are re-working Frost’s contract with a reduction in salary and buyout cost for him to return.

Those moves were not the only ones in what proved to be a busy day for the Huskers. Nebraska made big moves to the offensive staff, releasing 4 assistants with 3 games left for the season. Ryan Held, the RBs coach, was among that group.

Held put out a statement Monday evening following the announcement. While he was understandably disappointed by the move, Held thanked Frost for giving him the chance to coach at the Division I level. Held also expressed a love for the program and wished the Huskers nothing but the best.

Held played alongside Frost at Nebraska in the 1990s and joined Frost’s staff at UCF for the 2016 season. Held had served as the RBs coach under Frost since then both at UCF and Nebraska.
