Nebraska fans hoping for some clarity on the injury status of freshman quarterback Adrian Martinez will likely have to wait until kickoff on Saturday.

Head coach Scott Frost was asked about Martinez’s status while meeting with the media on Thursday, but it sounds like the freshman is still day-to-day. When asked if he’s leaning one way or another on whether Martinez will play, Frost said he may not have the answer until just before Nebraska kicks off against Troy.

Frost said he might make a decision on Martinez  “two minutes before kickoff” on Saturday. He said that he’s liked the progress the quarterback has made considering the severity of the injury, but the decision on whether to play the freshman will be “strictly physical.”

Martinez was injured at the end of a play in the fourth quarter of the Huskers’ first game against Colorado. He was listed as day-to-day.

Andrew Bunch finished the game for Nebraska last Saturday.

In addition to addressing Martinez’s status, Frost also talked about Nebraska’s approach toward scheduling a 12th game and whether or not he’d prefer to play in October or December.

Nebraska will host Troy at Memorial Stadium on Saturday to round out — at least as its currently scheduled — the non-conference season.
