Stephen A. Smith shared his opinion that Michigan should be banned from the CFP until the investigation into potential illegal sign-stealing is complete.

The ESPN personality shared this extreme course of action on First Take Tuesday morning after news came out this week that the Wolverines have officially been given a notice of potential disciplinary action by the NCAA.

Michigan is currently ranked No. 3 in the College Football Playoff ranking. The Wolverines are undefeated on the season but face off against Penn State Saturday for their first true test of the year.

How the NCAA handles Michigan across the next few weeks will be very interesting to watch unfold. It seems unlikely that a circumstance like what Smith is suggesting comes to fruition.

But Michigan has a great chance to reach the CFP. If they can down the Nittany Lions and Ohio State in Week 13, they should be able to blitz their B1G West counterpart in the B1G Championship game to punch their ticket.
