Star rookie quarterback Joe Burrow went down Sunday with what appeared to be a catastrophic knee injury suffered while trying to deliver a ball downfield against the Washington Football Team.

Burrow got a lot of attention from players of both teams as the cart prepared to haul him from the field, but three of the guys near Burrow were there for more personal reasons.

“Still got that Ohio State brotherhood,” said former Buckeye Terry McLaurin, who along with Chase Young, and Dwayne Haskins were there to wish Burrow the best in his recovery. “Under that jersey, you still got that ‘Block O’ close to your heart.”

Burrow was teammates with all three players in Columbus before transferring to LSU after coming up short in the quarterback competition. Ohio State did well without Burrow, but Burrow shined the brightest down in Baton Rouge, leading LSU to an undefeated national championship season and winning the Heisman Trophy for himself in a runaway vote.

For many the college years remain the best days of their football lives no matter how many seasons they play in the NFL. For these former Buckeyes it’s clear the days in Scarlet and Gray aren’t far from their hearts.
