Tommy Eichenberg may not have been a finalist for the Dick Butkus Award, but he is up for a different award instead. The Lott IMPACT Trophy listed its four finalists on Wednesday evening.
Eichenberg was the sole B1G representative on the list. Alabama LB Will Anderson Jr., Kansas State DE Felix Anudike-Uzomah, and USC DL Tuli Tuipulotu were the other finalists.
Fans were confused when Eichenberg was not chosen as a finalist for the Dick Butkus Award. Eichenberg has some impressive stats this season with 105 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and 1 pick-six.
The finalists will attend the show for the award on Dec. 11 in Newport Beach, California, which will be hosted by FOX Sports’ Joel Klatt.
The award goes to the player in college football who best exhibits the characteristics of Ronnie Lott. Lott attended USC and played in the NFL for the San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Raiders, and New York Jets.
Grant Bricker covers the B1G for Saturday Tradition. His previous stops include the Williamson Homepage and Nashville Post.
