Trey Sermon is playing like an MVP for Ohio State, and he just gave the Buckeyes their first lead of the season.

Sermon previously gashed Northwestern for a massive gain on one drive. Unfortunately, Ohio State was unable to cash in that huge play as the ensuing field goal attempt sailed wide.

Fortunately, the Buckeyes got another chance and continued to feed Sermon on the ground. After a couple of clutch pickups, Ohio State set up a first-and-goal from the nine-yard line and looked toward Sermon again.

Here’s how Sermon scored the first touchdown of the game for Ohio State and gave the Buckeyes their first lead of the contest:

With the run, Sermon went over 200 yards for the game, meaning he is now chasing Ezekiel Elliott for a B1G Championship Game record. Elliott holds the record for rushing yards in the title game with 220. At 204 with a quarter to go, can Sermon catch Elliott’s mark and lead the Buckeyes to a conference championship?
