Doug Lesmerises of Cleveland.com got to talk to Urban Meyer, the former head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes this week.
The two talked about a few things of course, but one was about Ohio State and what will happen when the Buckeyes face adversity. No matter how good the team is — at any level — that team will face adversity. Whether it is internal or external, Ohio State is bound to face adversity this season.
Perhaps it will happen this week.

Ohio State hosts Cincinnati — which will inevitably be a tougher test than what Florida Atlantic was in Week 1. If the Buckeyes do face adversity, how will new head coach Ryan Day handle it?
Meyer said that he isn’t sure until adversity hits, but he has confidence in his successor:
“I think you don’t know until you know,” Meyer said. “Obviously we have great confidence Ryan can do it. I’ve been in meeting rooms with him, and we had an awful loss last year, and to come back and win the rest the way we did, that wasn’t me. That was us, and Ryan was a huge part of that.
“So you don’t know until you know, until adversity strikes and the thing is, it will. There’s no perfect team. There’s going to be something that happens, and that’s how you’re going to be measured. It’s not when you’re winning by four touchdowns against FAU. You’ll be measured when adversity strikes, and you don’t know until you know.
“However, I can’t have more confidence in anyone I’ve ever worked with than Ryan to navigate that.”
Ohio State hosts Cincinnati for a noon kickoff on Saturday, Sept. 7. The game will be televised on ABC.
