Drew Brees rewrote the NFL record books on Monday Night Football, passing Peyton Manning to become the league’s all-time leading passer. It was a night filled with celebration for the former Purdue star.

Brees surpassed Manning’s 71,940-yard total on a 62-yard touchdown pass in the first half of the Saints’ game against the Redskins on Monday. And Manning, the former record holder, provided a remarkable congratulatory response.

After the game, Brees was interviewed by ESPN to talk about breaking the record and etching his name in NFL history. He provided an emotional, and tremendous, response.

Even without the passing record, Brees has had a Hall of Fame career that has included a Super Bowl title and Super Bowl MVP honor. He’s also approaching the all-time passing touchdown mark, too.

Monday night’s accomplishment will be one that’s remembered for quite some time by Brees, his family and New Orleans.
