Iowa’s 2019 season-opener didn’t start out perfectly.

In the first 20 minutes of action, Miami (OH) actually led the Hawkeyes 7-3. But then, the offense got going. Just a few minutes later, quarterback Nate Stanley threw a 9-yard TD pass to Brandon Smith to give Iowa a 10-7 lead going into halftime.

In the third quarter, Stanley again found a wide receiver for a 9-yard TD pass. This time, it went Oliver Martin’s way:

Martin, a transfer from Michigan, made his first catch as a Hawkeye count in the biggest way possible: by turning it into six points. Martin was a 4-star WR prospect in the Class of 2017 and was ruled eligible for the Hawkeyes just a few days ago.
