Coming off the loss to Ohio State, Purdue was eager to get back into the win column. To get there, the Boilermakers turned to a star receiver to have a big game vs. Northwestern.
No, it was not David Bell (though Bell still had 12 catches for 101 yards). This time, it was Milton Wright who hauled in 8 catches for 213 yards and 3 touchdowns as Purdue rolled to a 32-14 win in Wrigley Field.
After the game, Wright was asked about his big-time performance. At the end of the day, Wright said the expectation in the offensive room is to be ready to execute when your time is called:
“We just like to preach execution and everyone understanding what the standard is in our room,” said Wright. “Sometimes it’s David’s day, sometimes it’s Jackson Anthrop’s day, sometimes it’s TJ’s day, today was my day.”
Wright went on to say that Purdue is looking for even bigger things than this performance:
“On the stat sheet, it looks crazy, but for me, honestly, it’s a great day, but we want more,” Wright explained.
