Northwestern head coach Pat Fitzgerald has been named the Dodd Trophy’s Coach of the Week after his Wildcats knocked off Wisconsin this past Saturday:

The 17-7 win got Northwestern to 5-0 on the season and up to No. 11 in the country on the latest AP Poll. However, Northwestern’s official Twitter account had a nice response to the Wildcats not being even higher.

They control their own destiny for winning the West division and getting to the Big Ten Championship game against Ohio State, who just beat Indiana 42-35.

In the game against Wisconsin, Northwestern shut the Badgers out for the last three-quarters of the game. They also didn’t let Badgers quarterback Graham Mertz do much of anything as he only had one touchdown pass to three interceptions. Those three interceptions are the only three interceptions he’s had all season, too.

Offensively, Wildcats quarterback Peyton Ramsey had a great game as he went 23-for-44 for 203 yards and two touchdowns. Receivers Charlie Mangieri and Ramaud Chiaokhiao-Bowman each caught a touchdown in the game.

That was definitely a solid performance and not bad at all for the Fightin’ Rece Davises.

Next up for Northwestern will be a date with Michigan State this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET. The game will be televised by ESPN2.
