Jeremiah Smith is a true freshman so Ohio State fans do not have to worry about the electric playmaker leaving for the NFL Draft anytime soon. But when he does, ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky is expecting a firestorm of teams jostling for position to be able to grab Smith.

During Thursday’s broadcast of “Get Up,” Orlovsky was quick to say Smith would go No. 1 overall if available for the 2025 NFL Draft. He’s not alone in that assessment with Smith viewed as a generational talent and complete player at 19 years old.

“No. 1 pick, wouldn’t even be close. He would easily be the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft,” said Orlovsky.

Then, the ESPN analyst took it a step further:

“You will have teams in 2 years for that ’27 Draft, tanking for him,” Orlovsky predicted.

“For a wide receiver?” asked Mike Greenberg.

“Absolutely. He’s that good,” predicted Orlosvky. “He is Julio Jones. His hips look like they’re in his armpits! He looks 6-foot-5 just from his hips down.

“He reminds me of Julio Jones, his physical frame reminds me a little bit of Calvin Johnson’s. He would be easily the No. 1 pick in this year’s NFL Draft.”

For any other player, that would seem downright insanity. For Jeremiah Smith, it’s just the latest nugget in one of the best all-time starts for a player in Ohio State history.
