Joe Burrow has been a member on two historic college football programs. Now, the Ohio State-turned-LSU quarterback is hoping for a postseason meeting between the two teams.

The former Buckeyes opted to transfer prior to the start of the season after Dwayne Haskins won the starting job. So far, it’s worked out for both parties.

Burrow, who won the starting job in Baton Rouge and has LSU off to a 5-0 start, recently joined 97.1 The Fan in Columbus to talk about the success of the Buckeyes and Tigers this season. He believes that the two teams are very similar.

“They’re pretty comparable,” Burrow said. “I would say Ohio State has a little more depth, but top to bottom it’s really close. My guys here are great, they’re really talented. We still haven’t played our best game yet, so once we start really clicking on all cylinders, we’re going to be good.”

It’s funny that Burrow says LSU has yet to play its best game, as head coach Urban Meyer said the same thing on Monday about the Buckeyes. Even after a huge win over Penn State, Meyer said his team “hasn’t played close” to its best game.

Burrow was then asked if he’d like to see the two teams go head-to-head in the CFB Playoff if success continued for LSU and Ohio State. That was a no-brainer.

“I mean, what do you think I’m going to say? Absolutely, I would love to do that,” Burrow said. “It would be a little weird, playing everybody, but that would be pretty fun.”

Ohio State players and fans have continued to support Burrow through his decision to transfer. His former teammates showed plenty of love in Week 1, when he led the Tigers to a huge win over Miami. And prior to the Buckeyes’ kickoff with TCU in Week 3, fans watched LSU defeat Auburn on a last-second field goal on the AT&T Stadium jumbotron. Fans wearing scarlet and gray erupted with applause.

The support has been mutual. Burrow says that, though LSU was in a battle with Ole Miss Saturday night, people giving him score updates throughout the game.

“I had people keeping me updated on the sideline about the score,” Burrow said. “So I was getting excited about that in the fourth quarter.”

Burrow did say one thing that may be blasphemous in the eyes of some Ohio State fans, saying Death Valley is a tougher environment for opponents than the Horseshoe. But the love continues to be mutual.

Maybe we’ll see the two sides reunite in January.
