Joel Klatt took to Twitter to explain why Ohio State remained at the top of his rankings after Week 8.

The Buckeyes came out slow against Iowa, by their standards at least. After the 1st quarter, the Buckeyes had only a 16-7 lead. The offense looked sluggish, settling for 3 field goals in the quarter.

However, the Buckeyes would get it rolling after halftime, scoring 2 TDs in the 3rd and 4th quarters. The Buckeye defense also made its mark, forcing 3 INTs off of Iowa QBs.

Klatt mentioned that even with the slow start, the Buckeyes still managed to easily cover a -29.5 point spread. It also wound up being the most points ever allowed by the Hawkeyes in the Kirk Ferentz era.

Ohio State easily improved to 7-0 and remained in the top spot of Klatt’s ranking.

The rest of the top 4 also remained the same, with Tennessee easily securing a win, and Michigan and Georgia being on a bye week.
