Joel Klatt shreds OSU, cites 'real flaws' despite big win vs. Maryland
Joel Klatt was on hand as a part of FOX’s broadcast crew for Week 6’s showdown between Ohio State and Maryland. Klatt was among those who watched the Buckeyes shake off a slow start to beat the Terrapins 37-17, but he left that game with more questions than answers
On Monday, Klatt explained that perception of the game depends on the mentality of each individual person. However, he made it clear he has a “glass-half-empty” view of Ohio State’s 20-point victory.
“You look at this game two ways… It’s a glass-half-full (or) glass-half-empty mentality,” said Klatt. “If you have a glass-half-full mentality, you say to yourself we just beat — as Joel put it — the 4th-best B1G team by 20 points. If you’re a glass-half-empty guy, you say man that score was not anywhere close to indicative of the game that I watched.”

Klat went on to say he noticed “some real flaws” from Ohio State that need to be addressed ASAP. Among those issues, Klatt heavily pointed to the Buckeye offensive line as a group that must get better in a hurry.
“I’m part of the second camp. I normally try to be optimistic, but what I saw in a 37-17 win was not indicative of a 37-17 win,” Klatt explained. “What I saw was not a 20-point win… When you watch that game, it was not a 20-point blowout. It just wasn’t. Ohio State has some real flaws that they need to fix really quickly.”
At this point, Klatt is not the only analyst starting to share some concerns about the Buckeyes. In a Monday appearance on “The Paul Finebaum Show,” Rece Davis discussed Penn State and admitted he would currently favor the Nittany Lions in their Week 8 trip to Columbus.
We’ll see how Ohio State addresses those perceived issues for a team that is still in the middle of a 5-0 start to the season. Here is Klatt’s full segment:
