Joel Klatt speculates on Urban Meyer, Dallas Cowboys chatter: ‘If it were offered, he would take it’

At least one person is buying that Urban Meyer would be seriously interested in a return to coaching at an NFL destination.
The idea of Meyer returning to the coaching realm has once again been stirred up. It comes amidst a Friday report that the son of Jerry Jones – Stephen Jones – spoke with Urban Meyer about a potential opportunity. Dallas has yet to fire current head coach Jason Garrett, but another loss on Thursday night has things trending in a negative direction.
Later in the day on Friday, FOX analyst Joel Klatt was asked by Colin Cowherd about Meyer’s perceived interest in the job should it come available. Cowherd also asked if Meyer would work with the Cowboys since Meyer has not been a head coach at the NFL level.
Klatt definitely thinks Meyer can work anywhere:
“Listen, I think Urban Meyer would work anywhere. When you’re a great coach, you’re a great coach, period,” said Klatt. “The Cowboy thing is interesting because of what he said to you.”
What did Meyer say to Cowherd? Earlier in the year, Meyer said during an interview that he would “absolutely” listen should the Cowboys come calling.
Klatt followed up his previous comments by saying hiring someone like Meyer fits Jerry Jones’ “blueprint:”
“My speculation is if it were offered, he would take it,” claimed Klatt. “Let’s not forget: the MO, the Blueprint for Jerry Jones to win a Super Bowl is to hire a guy like Urban Meyer.”
