Former Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields is in the midst of his first training camp in the NFL.
It sounds like the Buckeyes prepared him well for some of the tougher parts of being an NFL quarterback, but he’s having to go back to the basics in one key area: Saying the play in the huddle.
Fields told reporters on Tuesday that telling his teammates the play in the huddle has been the hardest part of his transition to the NFL so far. He said that wasn’t something he had to do much of at Ohio State.
The former Buckeye also said learning the play book has been easier because of his time at Columbus. The Bears’ passing concepts are apparently similar to what he worked with in college.
Justin Fields says the easiest part of his transition to the NFL has been the pass concepts because they are similar to Ohio State.
The hardest part? "Literally saying the play in the huddle."
He didn't have to do that at Ohio State.

Fields is expected to be the Bears’ starting quarterback at some point this season, if not in Week 1. Chicago traded up to the No. 11 pick to select him in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Bears fans are excited to see him in action — to the point that they made him the No. 1 rookie (and No. 6 overall player) in NFL jersey sales for this offseason.
The Bears open the 2021 campaign with the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 12.
