Kirk Herbstreit joined the ‘Pat McAfee Show’ to talk about working with Al Micheals on Thursday Night Football. It was reported back in Feb. that the pair will be teaming up with Amazon Prime Video to call games for the NFL.

The former Buckeyes QB called the 1st game of Monday Night Football for the 2020 NFL season. He also starting covering the NFL Draft for ESPN back in 2018. Herbie has been with ESPN since 1996. Michaels will be leaving his role at NBC’s Sunday Night Football with Cris Collinsworth to join Amazon.

These 2 are some of the best in the business, and should be really fun to watch. Here’s what he said about getting to know Michaels per Matt Audilet of The Spun:

“I’ve hung out with him now, two or three times,” said Herbstreit. “We did some stuff in LA, and then I had to go back to New York. I’ve had lunch with his wife, Linda, and my wife Allison. We just hung out and got a chance to know him. I’m really big on that. I wanna make Wednesday night dinner a staple, and just hang out and get to know him. When you do that, it allows you have a natural chemistry.”

Michaels and Herbstreit will call their 1st game together on Sept. 15 as the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers battle for the AFC West at 8:20 ET on Amazon Prime Video.
