James wasn’t the only one to notice Fields’ special day, as numerous other fans and members of the media chimed in as well.

Fields is currently in a quarterback competition with veteran Andy Dalton, who started today’s preseason game for Chicago. Dalton is expected to be the team’s starter in Week 1, but Fields appears to be apply pressure to Bears coach Matt Nagy.

The Bears traded up to No. 11 overall to draft Fields in the 2021 NFL Draft. Fields surprisingly fell out of the top 10 as three other quarterbacks were picked in front of him.

Chicago’s next preseason game is on Aug. 21 vs. Buffalo. The Bears’ regular season opener is on Sept. 12 vs. the Rams.
