They haven’t faced off on the field in nearly a year and a half, but Michael Thomas and Jourdan Lewis are still in a battle of sorts off the field.
It all started fifteen months ago when Thomas posted highlights of himself against Lewis during their 2015 matchup. Lewis responded with a since-deleted video in which he said that “he left it alone” but rhetorically asked Thomas if he was “even going in the second round?”
Thomas, of course, was picked in the second round by the New Orleans Saints. He then led rookie receivers in catches, yards and touchdowns.
That brought us back to Friday night when the first two rounds of the draft finished and Lewis had yet to be picked. Thomas took notice:
The Dallas Cowboys then took Lewis with the No. 92 overall pick in the third round. So the two-time All-American waited to respond until he was drafted.
He then answered Thomas’ question:
For what it’s worth, Thomas did retweet Lewis’ tweet. Their battle 15 months ago had a bit more back and forth to it, but this one certainly had more next-level trolling.
The good news for us is that while Lewis and Thomas will no longer battle on the last Saturday in November, they could see plenty of each other in NFC battles.
Here’s hoping they get mic’d up for that.
